Early Morning Patrol from Fargo PD Leads to Multiple Car Prowler Arrests

(Fargo, ND) -- A preventative patrol led to the arrest of two car prowlers in Fargo early Wednesday morning.

Fargo Police say that an officer on patrol near 72nd Avenue South and 28th Street South noticed two individuals with flashlights inside a home that is under construction. The officer saw the two males exit the house and walk across the street and enter another home under construction. They then called for additional units to assist by setting up a small perimeter, including a K9. Once the perimeter was set up, officers searched the area for the two males, locating one of the males running in a field. After a short foot pursuit, the male identified as 21-year-old Alexander S. Gruver of Moorhead, was detained. The second male, identified as 22-year-old Justin G. Keller, also from Moorhead, was detained a short time later. Through the officer’s investigation, Keller and Gruver were arrested for criminal trespass.

"Often times, while our community sleeps, those with ill intentions are out lurking around looking for crimes of opportunity," said Fargo Police Public Information Officer Jessica Schindeldecker. "Our night shift officers remain dedicated to providing preventative patrols in the area they cover in hopes of deterring these individuals from committing crime, and capturing those who intend to prey upon vulnerable areas of our community."

The department would like to remind the trade industry to help prevent theft from construction sites by locking up all tools, trailers and job sites when leaving; identify all assets on the job site including serial numbers; mark tools with etching tools; and always report any theft or crimes that occur on the jobsite.
