Officer Logan Waldvogel & Moorhead Police ~ WE SALUTE YOU!

Steve Hallstrom Chats with Officer Logan Waldvogel and Police Chief Shannon Monroe In this Months Salute to Law Enforcement.

With great pleasure, we nominate Officer Logan Waldvogel as the Moorhead Police Department's representative for The Flag Salute to Law Enforcement. Officer Waldvogel has been with our department since 2021 but has quickly impacted our community. One of Logan's exceptional personality traits is his ability to be professional yet empathetic to others. Officer Waldvogel enjoys talking to individuals he contacts and treats them with respect and dignity, including those he is arresting. Logan has been recognized several times this year for his positive interactions with the public.

During one call for service, he met with a female that had an incident at her apartment. After the incident, she described him as "Awesome" and said he was very empathetic and "Actually listened to" her. She said she is not from Moorhead and does not trust the police, but this incident changed her stance. After the call, her son told Logan he wanted to be a police officer when he grew up, so he gave the child a tour of his squad car and answered questions. During another incident, Logan was recognized by his sergeant for the "excellent job" he did at building rapport with a barricaded suspect, which led to the suspect peacefully surrendering.

Officer Waldvogel leads the department in incidents responded to, traffic stops, citations issued, and DUI arrests, with twice as many as the next closest officer. Even though he is extremely busy during his shift, he still finds time to interact positively with our community members. A parent recently recognized him for taking the time to stop at a park and play basketball with their son and other children. The parent wanted to thank him for the positive impact the experience had on her son and neighborhood kids. Officer Waldvogel is always looking for ways to improve and solicits constructive criticism from others. Lt. Detloff commented, "

Officer Waldvogel is a very active officer who is always looking for ways to keep his community safe. His ambition, determination, and willingness to learn new things will keep his career exciting and position him well for future opportunities." We congratulate Logan on this recognition and look forward to his continued excellent work and positive impact on our community. unity safe. His ambition, determination, and willingness to learn new things will keep his career exciting and position him well for future opportunities.”
