SUNDAY 10:49 P.M. UPDATE: The North Dakota Highway Patrol has identified both drivers involved in a fatal accident on Friday in Richland County.

Ryan Ottis, of Kindred, was driving the Kenworth truck. He received minor injuries and was transferred to a hospital in Fargo by Kindred Ambulance.

Christopher Bauer, of Puposky, Minn., was driving the Chevrolet Malibu and was pronounced dead on scene.

6:50 P.M. UPDATE: We now know more about the fatal crash in Richland County earlier this afternoon. According to North Dakota Highway Patrol Captain Bryan Niewind, at around 4:45 p.m., authorities received a call of a two-vehicle crash on County Road 81, about one mile south of Highway 46 in Richland County.

Involved were a Chevrolet Malibu and a Kenworth truck, towing a hay baler.

The semi was northbound on County Road 81 and the Malibu was southbound. The Malibu crossed the center line and was struck by the semi on the passenger side.

The car was split in two, officials say, due to the collision.

Both vehicles had one person in them. The driver of the semi was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the Malibu, a male, died on scene.

Valley News Live's Kortney Lockey told WZFG News earlier this evening that one official on the scene called it 'a big mess.'

We will have more information as it becomes available.
