The Fargo Fire Department responded to a report of a woman in the Red River just after noon on Saturday.
According to a press release, the call came in at 12:10 p.m. for a woman who could not climb the steep banks of the shoreline.
Upon arrival, firefighters located the woman approximately 75 yards down-stream from where she entered the water. She was 25 yards from shore, the fire department says, and was struggling to stay above water.
As she slipped under the water, a firefighter entered the river, swam to her and brought her to shore.
The woman was turned over to paramedics on scene for evaluation.
