Gun Found in Wahpeton Not Tied to Sadek Murder

A rusted gun found along the Red River between Wahpeton and Breckenridge, by a fisherman, has no relation to the death of NDSCS student Andrew Sadek, who was found dead in the river in 2014.

The gun was found at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, according to Valley News Live. It was found south of the location where Sadek's body was found.

Wahpeton Police Department Chief Steve Thorsteinson says the gun found was a 357 magnum revolver, while the gun used was believed to be a 22 Caliber weapon, which has not been found yet. Thorsteinson says police were able to find the serial number, which helped to confirm no connection to the murder.

Police alerted the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation.

Throsteinson says they were unable to open the weapon to see if it was loaded with amunition.
