UPDATE: Man arrested after fleeing, jumping into Red River

 

11:15 P.M. UPDATE: This evening around 8 p.m., Minnesota law enforcement attempted a traffic stop in the City of Moorhead for a traffic violation. The driver of the vehicle, who was later identified as Jacob Bredell, fled from officers, and there was a short pursuit.

Bredell ditched his vehicle on the MN side of the Red River in North Moorhead, and jumped into the Red River in an attempt to escape. He ended up on the ND side of the river, in Trefoil Park at 14th Ave and Elm St N in Fargo. He was taken into custody by Fargo Officers and Clay County Deputies, and was arrested and taken to the Cass County Jail on a warrant for a 24/7 violation and Felony Fleeing in a Motor Vehicle (a Minnesota Charge).

Neither Bredell or any officers were injured during this event.

ORIGINAL STORY: A man has been arrested after police say he drove away from a traffic stop and ended up jumping into the Red River.

It all happened Wednesday night at around 7:30 p.m., when a report came in for a man jumping into the river near the 1400 block of Elm Street North.

An officer tells Valley News Live the man has a warrant out for his arrest, and, after they attempted the stop, he fled. The officers eventually arrested him on the other side of the river.
