Man arrested following Grand Forks chase

 

On Friday, at approximately 9:45 p.m., an officer with the Grand Forks Police Department attempted to make a traffic stop with a vehicle for speeding.  The vehicle fled going west on Demers Avenue then south on South 34 Street. The vehicle crashed into a fence, through a backyard, and hit another fence at a residence.

No one at the residence was injured.

The subject refused to exit the vehicle.  The subject turned the vehicle around and tried to flee again.  The vehicle had received extensive damage and only traveled about one block. 

The driver fled on foot but was taken into custody very quickly.

Altru Ambulance and Grand Forks Fire Department assisted on this incident.  The Grand Forks Police Departments Accident Investigation team and the Unmanned Air Support Team assisted also.

The driver was arrested on several charges including, Driving under the Influence, refusing to halt, leaving the scene of an accident, fleeing, preventing arrest, driving under suspension, and reckless endangerment.
