Lanes shift on 42nd Street South

Beginning Wednesday, August 28, crews will begin working on phase two of the 42nd Street South Concrete Pavement Rehabilitation (CPR) project from 19th Avenue to 32nd Avenue. Phase two consists of single lanes in each direction shifted to the west side of 42nd Street South between 19th and 30th Avenues South. Intersections within this work zone will close intermittently for no more than 12 days each. Phase two is expected to take up to six weeks.

During CPR projects, crews remove the deteriorated areas of concrete pavement and replace the area with new concrete. Sections of the roadway will re-open to traffic once designed strength has been achieved on the new concrete.

Work will be completed on the last phase of the CPR project by mid-October.

With crews working in close proximity to moving traffic in CPR work zones, drivers are reminded to slow down, eliminate distractions and pay attention to signage. Speeds are reduced in the work zone.
