Two vehicle crash injures one in Walsh County

A two-vehicle crash early Thursday morning in Walsh County has sent one to the hospital with 'significant injuries'.

At approximately 5:30 a.m. Thursday, a 2005 Peterbilt truck tractor with an empty grain trailer, driven by 37-year-old Michael Garza, of Grafton, was westbound on Highway 17. A 2015 Nissan Altima, driven by 52-year-old Jennifer Mathe, of Cavalier, was southbound on Highway 18.

At the intersection of Highways 17 and 18, Mathe entered traffic close in front of the Peterbilt, causing it to strike Mathe's vehicle's rear driver side.

Garza was uninjured. Mathe was transported by ambulance to Unity Hospital in Grafton with significant injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
