Hoeven announces funding to improve access to opioid abuse treatment

Senator John Hoeven, a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has awarded $4,020,043.00 to the State of North Dakota to help improve access to opioid abuse treatment in the state. Today’s funds are awarded through the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s (SAMHSA) State Opioid Response (SOR) grant program.

“Opioid abuse has affected too many of our communities,” Hoeven said. “Helping individuals access effective treatment is an important part of combatting this epidemic. Today’s funds will aid states and local communities in their efforts to prevent and treat opioid abuse as well as assist those in recovery.”

With today’s funds and by the end of 2019, the Administration will have awarded more than $9 billion in HHS grants to help increase access to opioid abuse treatment and prevention services across the country.
