North Dakota's First Vision Zero Community

The North Dakota Department of Transportation, along with the North Dakota Highway Patrol, will be in Park River Wednesday to recognize the community as the first Vision Zero community in the state.

Park River Mayor Dan Stenvold tells WZFG News that it is an honor to be the first North Dakota Vision Zero community.

As a Vision Zero Community, Park River will work toward zero motor vehicle crash fatalities and serious injuries in the community through implementation of strategies proven to reduce motor vehicle crashes.

He says that the community will continue to keep its road signs up to date to help in reaching the Vision Zero goal.

Stenvold says the community has a speed limit issue – an issue they’re working on to limit the number of crashes in and near the community.
