More than 400 students from Clara Barton and Hawthorne Elementary Schools will celebrate back-to-school with an ice cream social. The event will be held on Thursday from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Hawthorne Elementary School, located at 555 South 8th Street in Fargo.

During this special celebration, several Clara Barton and Hawthorne Neighborhood Association Board Members, Clara Barton Neighborhood representatives, and Fargo School Board Members will hand out ice cream sandwiches to attendees.

This is the ninth year for the event, which was first held in 2011. The event, sponsored by the Clara Barton Hawthorne Parent Teacher Association, is held to help students and families from the two campuses get to know one another, and create a stronger identity for the paired schools. The paired schools serve kindergarten through fifth grade students from the same south side neighborhood, grades K – 2 at Hawthorne and grades 3 – 5 at Clara Barton.
