Grand Forks Man Faces Construction Fraud Charges

 

A Grand Forks man is facing two construction fraud charges in two separate cases in Grand Forks County.

On two separate occasions, both in 2017, Matthew Hinze is accused of construction fraud.

Informational documents from the Grand Forks County Clerk of Courts office say that, on or about July 17, 2017, Hinze committed construction fraud by abandoning a construction project. In that project, he received a payment of $47,580 for services or materials for the project.

Then, on or about August 9, 2017, Hinze again committed construction fraud by abandoning a construction project. In that project, he received a payment of $9,946.16 for services or materials for the project.

The first count is a Class B Felony, and the second is a Class C Felony.

Hinze had his initial court appearance today in Grand Forks County Court.
