Cramer releases statement on FERC proposal to modernize PUPRA regulations

U.S. Senator and Senate Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee member Kevin Cramer (R-ND) issued the following statement on the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) proposing to modernize their Public Utility Regulatory Policies Act of 1978 (PUPRA) regulations:

“Since enactment in 1978, the United States energy landscape has drastically changed from increased oil, natural gas, and renewable production to open access transmission service. These reforms will benefit consumers from facing unreasonable costs and inhibit abuses of the one-mile rule. I am pleased FERC took action to update these regulations, and I urge stakeholders to review the details and provide comments to ensure the Commission gets it right.”

Senator Cramer helped introduce legislation earlier this year to modernize PUPRA to protect American families from inflated electricity costs and urged the FERC to take action within its authority.
