The Arts Partnership to host ChalkFest 2019

ChalkFest takes place 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 5 at The Red River Zoo, proudly hosted by The Arts Partnership. This free event (including zoo admission) invites people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to do one simple thing: draw with chalk. Just let your imagination soar!

This year, ChalkFest will welcome featured visual artist Mark Elton to create chalk artwork at the Zoo entrance. Elton is an artist, author and animator whose work has been displayed in galleries across North America.

But ChalkFest isn’t just about the visual arts. The public will have the opportunity to engage with a range of arts organizations to learn more about what they offer for children and adults alike, from performances to classes and more.

There will be performances by musicians, storytellers and dancers. Local musician Ricot Aladin, who sings in English, French and Creole, will be sharing his talent with visitors. ChalkFest goers can tap their toes along with the Kicks Band of Fargo-Moorhead, performing big band music. Bill Thomas, a storyteller and musician, will be entertaining audiences with narrations of different folk tales and a mix of music – join him in the Wolf House. And at noon, the FM Ballet will perform to Michael Jackson’s Thriller to get us all ready for Halloween.

Visitors will have the opportunity to see the fantastic animals living at the Zoo and learn about them from the Zoo staff.
