11:25 PM UPDATE: Shots fired reported in Grand Forks

 

11:25 PM UPDATE: The Grand Forks Police Department now says a 27-year-old Grand Forks man, Richard Richardson, has been arrested in connection with Monday night's incident. Richardson has been charged with reckless endangerment and is incarcerated at the Grand Forks County Correctional Center.

At approximately 5:38 p.m., officers were called to the 2000 block of South Washington Street, for an incident involving gunfire.

When officers arrived, they learned that a male subject, who was in the vicinity of Orton's, had fired a handgun towards a car that was driving past on the frontage road. One of the occupants of the vehicle was known by the shooter, and it is believed that the incident was a continuation of a prior incident between the two subjects.

No one was injured during the incident, which is still under active investigation. Police do not believe there is a further threat to the public.

10:35 PM UPDATE: Valley News Live is reporting that two subjects, both males, knew each other. One of the men was at the gas station, when he fired seven bullets at the car.

No injuries have been reported and no arrests have been made, the report says. Police tell Valley News Live they know who the suspects are, but are trying to piece together the cause for the incident.

There is no threat to the public.

ORIGINAL STORY: Mutliple media sources are reporting shots have been fired in the area of the Orton's gas station on South Washington Street in Grand Forks.

Police are responding.
