Arrests made in Traill County investigation

Two individuals are facing multiple charges following an incident in rural Traill County early this week.

According to court documents, Cody Landa, of Portland, N.D., and Miranda Risberg, of Barnesville, Minn., are facing burglary and theft charges, stemming from an incident west of Reynolds Monday morning.

A deputy from the Traill County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene at 6:35 a.m. Monday, where she spoke with the owner of the property. The owner said he could ‘hear people in the farm yard.’ He also informed the deputy that a gray pickup, which didn’t belong on the property, was located.

After another officer arrived on scene, the perimeter was covered and the initial responding officer drove into the farmstead.

After locating the pickup, the officer drew her weapon and flashlight, and began approaching the vehicle. While approaching the vehicle, the officer noticed movement on the passenger side, when the door began opening. The officer commanded the individual to come out with their hands up. A female, later identified as Risberg, was subsequently taken into custody and transported to Grand Forks County Corrections.

While in Grand Forks, the deputy was informed that Landa had been located and was subsequently arrested.

Many items missing from the farmstead were located as a result of an investigation into the case.

Landa and Risberg have each been charged with a Class C felony charge of burglary and a Class B misdemeanor charge of theft of property.
