The Grand Forks Police Department is now allowing residents to report crimes online.
The new feature was unveiled Wednesday.
The online reporting system is to be used for criminal mischief cases under $1,000, theft of property less than $500, lost property, harassing phone calls, fraud valued at less than $500 and attempted identity theft.
The police department says residents shouldn’t use the system if there is a suspect or evidence that needs to be collected.
With the new online system, after a report is filed online, there is no need to contact dispatch for an officer response. The police department will contact you for further information.
