WFPS announces new aquatic director

 

Superintendent Beth Slette has announced Alyssa Kellas has accepted the aquatics director position with West Fargo Public Schools. 

Kellas holds a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science & Sports Medicine from the University of Minnesota – Duluth. She began her career in recreational management in 2007 as the administrative assistant for the Anoka County Parks Department in Andover, MN. From 2010 – 2013, she held the position of assistant manager at Anoka County’s Bunker Beach Water Park before being promoted to the facility’s recreation services and facilities coordinator. Kellas worked as a recreational supervisor for the City of South St. Paul from 2014 – 2016 and oversaw the daily operation of the Central Square Community Center, Northview Pool, and the Splash Pool at Lorraine Park. Most recently as the recreation supervisor for the City of Richfield, she has supervised the operations of the city’s community education program, inclusive of event planning, staff management, marketing, and registration. 

“The Hulbert Aquatic Center has established itself as one of the premiere aquatic facilities in the Midwest. Under Alyssa’s administration, I have no doubts that the facility will be managed to the  highest standards. Her experiences with program development, budgeting, events, and staff management will help ensure the district is meeting the needs of the community and beyond,” remarked Superintendent Slette upon Kellas’ acceptance of the position. 

Kellas will begin her new position with the district at the beginning of November.
