Grand Forks Police respond to suspicious person report

On Thursday, at 5:05 p.m., officers of the Grand Forks Police Department were dispatched to 307 1st Avenue South for a male subject walking around the parking lot of the business with a large knife in his hand.  According to the complainant, the male subject was swinging the knife while he walked around the parking lot.

Contact was made with the individual who dropped the weapon after receiving commands from on-scene Officers.  The subject was secured including the knife.

The suspect was identified as 29-year-old Kaiser Pittman, who claimed he was threatened by another individual in the parking lot so that is why he had pulled the knife.  Officers were unable to locate any one else in the area so this claim was never verified.  No customers were in the parking lot at the time when the knife was displayed.

No one on scene wished to pursue charges, so Pittman was released from the scene.  The knife was seized for safe keeping.
