Minnesota Highway 87 to experience closures

Starting Monday, Oct. 28, the Minnesota Department of Transportation will begin a project to seal an artesian well that’s located on MnDOT right of way along Highway 87 near the Toad River. The repairs are necessary ahead of the future widening of Highway 87 and bridge replacement scheduled in 2021.

As crews stage equipment on the highway, a road closure is required for approximately one week, weather permitting. Traffic will be detoured to County Road 33/51, County Road 60 and County Road 39/13 from Oct. 28 through Nov. 1. Local traffic will be maintained, but the road will be impassable at the well location.

After the road reopens, motorists will encounter daily lane closures on Highway 87 for up to three weeks. Crews will use an automated traffic signal to control traffic during daylight hours.
