Grand Forks Sheriff's deputies make arrest

 

At 10:40 a.m. today, a deputy with the Grand Forks County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop on an individual that he knew had active warrants for his arrest.

As the deputy was speaking with the driver, identified as Salvador Hernandez, 28, he attempted to run from the deputy. After a brief foot pursuit the deputy caught Hernandez.

Hernandez continued to resist arrest and swallowed an unknown amount of narcotics. The deputy called for emergency assistance. Sheriff’s Deputies and Grand Forks Police Officers responded and were able to get Hernandez under control and into custody. Hernandez was transported to Altru for evaluation.

Pending charges are; refusal to halt, resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance, ingestion of a control substance, and possession of a drug paraphernalia. Hernandez also had several active warrants.

Hernandez’s female passenger was also taken into custody for an outstanding Minnesota warrant.
