Grand Forks Women Charged In Alleged Kidnapping

Two Grand Forks women are facing charges after an alleged kidnapping in Grand Forks County Thursdaynight.

According to court documents, on Thursday at approximately 2:24 p.m., Jasmine Davis removed her juvenile daughter from the care and custody of Grand Forks County Social Services, after being advised her daughter was being placed in their custody. Jasmine and her daughter entered a GMC Sierra, driven by her mother, Melissa Davis.

A search then ensued, and a family member brought Jasmine and her daughter to the Sheriff’s Office at approximately 8:30 p.m.

The child was safe, and appeared unharmed. Jasmine was subsequently interviewed, and booked into custody on a Class B Felony count of kidnapping.

Melissa Davis, Jasmine’s mother, faces two charges—a Class A Felony of conspiracy to commit kidnapping, and a Class C Felony of hindering law enforcement.

Charging documents say Melissa Davis agreed with Jasmine to engage in or cause conduct that constituted the offense of kidnapping. Further, she also hindered law enforcement by giving a false report to law enforcement, and falsely informed Sheriff’s Office deputies that she did not know where Jasmine went or would be.
