Bachmann endorses Michelle Fischbach

Former Congresswoman Michele Bachmann, who has served as a member of President Trump’s evangelical advisory board in the past, today announced that she is endorsing former Lt. Governor and State Senator Michelle Fischbach, who is running for Congress in western Minnesota’s 7th District. If she wins, Fischbach will become the second Republican woman from Minnesota elected to the US. House of Representatives; the first was former Congresswoman Bachmann.

“I am proud to announce today my full endorsement of Michelle Fischbach for Congress in the 7th District,” said former Congresswoman Michele Bachmann. “I have known Michelle since we served together in the Minnesota Senate. I know her to be a conservative leader and a fierce champion for protecting the rights of the unborn and defending the Second Amendment. Michelle will represent western Minnesota values in Washington, and she will be a strong ally of President Trump as he continues to deliver on his promises to keep America great.”

Democrat Rep. Collin Peterson’s margins of victory have shrunk in each of the past three elections. In 2020, with President Trump on the ballot and Fischbach as the Republican nominee, Republicans view the 7th District race as one of the top pick-up opportunities in the country.

“It is an honor to receive Michele Bachmann’s endorsement. She is a committed fighter for the conservative movement and is one of the strongest voices in the evangelical Christian community. I consider her a friend, and I am so grateful for her full support,” said Fischbach. “Western Minnesotans are ready for a new voice who will represent their values in Washington and support President Trump."

Bachmann’s endorsement of Fischbach comes on the heels of an already impressive list of Republican endorsements, including U.S. House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy, U.S. Senator Tom Cotton, Minnesota Senate Majority Leader Paul Gazelka, Minnesota House Republican Leader Kurt Daudt, and sixteen 7th District Republican legislators. Fischbach was also recently recognized as “on the radar” by the NRCC’s Young Guns program.

Pointing to Fischbach’s entrance into the race, The Cook Political Report, Sabato’s Crystal Ball and most recently, Politico, changed their ratings for the 7th District race from Leans Democrat to Toss Up.
