ND Department of Environmental Quality receives EPA grant for school lead testing

U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND) announced today the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) awarded the North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality a grant of $122,000 for drinking water lead testing at local schools and child care centers.

The EPA investment will fund the North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality working with the North Dakota Department of Public Instruction and the North Dakota Department of Human Services to continue voluntary lead testing in local schools and child care facilities. Some of the facilities to be served, which are used to care for children six years and younger, were built before 1988 and may contain lead plumbing. This grant is in accordance with the Safe Drinking Water Act of 1974.
