City of Moorhead issues snow removal update

From the City of Moorhead:

The amount and weight of snow resulting from the December 28 and 29 storm is slowing response times for street snow removal. The transportation difficulties caused by this storm are understandably frustrating. Please know that our City crews are working diligently to clear the streets so normal driving conditions can resume.

Residential plowing began at 10 pm Sunday, December 29 and continues Monday, December 30. The initially estimated 14 -16 hours to clear the City was unattainable. Clearing this volume of heavy snow is requiring both a plow and a pay loader in many areas, which is slowing the City's response. It is now estimate it will take crews more than 24 hours to make the initial pass on all streets and one pass around the outside of the cul-de-sacs by early morning. Sanitation services will begin at 5 am Tuesday, December 31.

We sincerely appreciate the patience and cooperation of the public. Please do not park vehicles on City streets until after the street has been cleared, and remove cars on posted street maintenance days. Vehicles parked on the streets cause further delay and hazards for equipment operators.
