Fargo Police remind community of free online property registration program, My Property

In 2012, the City of Fargo Information Services Department and Fargo Police Department created My Property, a free online program, to help residents and police identify and recover stolen or lost property. The online program allows users to create an account, enter identifying information about their valuable property such as bicycles, electronics, and jewelry, and later retrieve the information if they become a victim of theft or other loss, such as fire.

Additionally, detectives are able to search this database in the course of an official investigation in order to locate the owner of recovered stolen or lost property. This capability allows police to return recovered property to its rightful owner as well as help arrest and prosecute criminals in possession of stolen property.

The Fargo Police Department encourages all residents to log information and pictures of their valuable items in this free online program, and has produced an easy video tutorial on how to use the program:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=98QAtl85MSA
