City of Moorhead declares snow emergency

The City of Moorhead is issuing a snow emergency declaration that will go into effect at 11 p.m. this evening.

Under City Ordinance 5-2-6-2, the Moorhead City Manager is authorized to issue an emergency declaration due to the weather conditions and restrict parking on primary and secondary snow emergency routes – where snow emergency signs are displayed – to aid with street clearing and for the responses of public safety vehicles for emergencies. The affected streets and avenues are contained in the Snow Emergency Routes map (https://www.cityofmoorhead.com/home/showdocument?id=1868) and where they are street signed as snow emergency routes. Vehicles parked in violation of this declaration may be impounded at the owner’s expense.

This declaration will be in effect until lifted by the City Manager or designee through a follow-up media release making the announcement.
