Oil Well Burns in McKenzie County

 

The McKenzie County Sheriff’s Office says an oil well fire erupted Saturday morning at approximately 10:20 a.m.

9-1-1 reports say black smoke, ground shaking and explosions were reported. The oil well pad had approximately 27 tank batteries, 16 crude oil tanks and 10 water tanks on site. Approximately 50 barrels of crude oil was in one tank.

The site was not producing oil at the time of the fire.

No injuries were reported, and the Environmental Health Division of the North Dakota Department of Health was notified.
