Flood threat continues on the Red River at Fargo

The risk of spring flooding is above normal across the Red River Basin and most of its tributaries.

A record wet fall and near to above average snowfall has led to an increased risk of spring flooding, with the temperatures and snowfall/rain for the rest of March and into April determining the extent of flooding potential.

The threat for significant snowmelt flooding continues to be above normal across the Red River and many of its tributaries. Temperatures, along with any additional snowfall or rain for the remainder of March, into April, during the melt runoff period, will have a big impact on the extent of flooding.
