Fargo retirement community to undergo COVID-19 testing

A local retirement community’s staff and residents are undergoing COVID-19 testing currently.

Riverview Place, which is a facility under Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI), in cooperation with the North Dakota Department of Health, is testing all residents and employees for COVID-19 to “help ensure their health, as well as the well-being of family members, friends and the greater community.” The news was confirmed Tuesday morning by CHI Living Communities’ Director of Communications, Christine Wasserman.

In a news release, CHI says the Riverview Place facility was placed under quarantine on March 30, as an added measure to help safeguard the health of residents and employees, and to help prevent the spread of the virus. Residents are being asked to shelter in their apartment, Wasserman says. Group activities are suspended, and visitor restrictions are also continuing, until further notice.

Nicole Peske, Chief Communications Officer for the North Dakota Department of Health, tells WZFG Radio that the state recommended the test for all residents and employees
