UPDATE: COVID-19 targeted testing to be held in Grand Forks

UPDATE: Grand Forks Public Health Department and the City of Grand Forks continue to monitor the number of positive COVID-19 cases in our community.  As a result of this, Grand Forks Public Health, with assistance from state and regional partners, will conduct another private COVID-19 testing event on Thursday, April 23, 2020.  This private testing event is for JR Simplot employees and close contacts of positive cases of LM Wind Power who are been pre-identified by the North Dakota Department of Health (NDDoH).  The drive through testing event will be at the Alerus Center from Noon – 5 pm.  Only those who are contacted by Grand Forks Public Health, NDDoH, or JR Simplot should show up for testing.

While there are no reported cases of COVID-19 at JR Simplot, their large workforce provides an opportunity to determine the extent of community spread among people without symptoms.

ORIGINAL STORY: A COVID-19 targeted testing event is being planned for Thursday, April 23 as a proactive and time-based follow up to last week’s testing event.

“A time based follow up to the testing event held last week is a necessary and proactive step in our efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19 in our community, and get actionable data to plan for next action steps,” said Mayor Michael R. Brown. “Further surveillance through this testing will help us best understand and mitigate community spread and we appreciate the partnership with local and state entities on this data-driven proactive effort.”
