U.S. Senator Heidi Heitkamp, a founding member of the Senate Broadband Caucus, today announced over $7.2 million in federal funding to Midco and BEK Communications Cooperative that will support rural high-speed internet infrastructure.
“Just as electric infrastructure was key to expanding our economy in the 20th century, high-speed internet infrastructure is critical to our success in the 21st century,” said Heitkamp. “I have long advocated for better internet infrastructure and high-speed internet access for all communities, especially in rural and tribal areas, and North Dakota’s telecommunications providers have done their jobs to connect so many communities. We must continue these efforts until every North Dakotan has access to reliable, high-speed internet so they can stay connected with family, do their work, further their education, and access healthcare services.”
