Today, Senator Cramer and Department of Energy Secretary Dan Brouillette held a teleconference with members of the North Dakota Petroleum Council (NDPC). NDPC members received an update on the efforts of Congress and the Department of Energy to address the issues facing the oil industry during this time of low prices and the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We appreciate Senator Cramer bringing Secretary Brouillette for a productive call with our members today,” said Ron Ness, NDPC President. “They are tireless champions for our industry, and we thank them for taking the time to discuss our concerns and the issues we face. We are optimistic that we are on the right path.”
“North Dakota’s oil and gas producers provide thousands of good paying jobs and contribute to our national security, but COVID-19 and the oil price war has created a lethal combination aimed at this sector. With President Trump directing his Administration to craft an oil and gas industry support plan, there is no better place to look for solutions than the North Dakotans on the front lines of this fight,” said Senator Cramer. “I appreciate the Petroleum Council hosting today’s event and Secretary Brouillette for accepting my invitation to hear from our producers and provide them with an update.”
“As our country works to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic, it is imperative we take a whole-of-government approach to reopen our country in a safe and responsible manner,” said U.S. Secretary of Energy Dan Brouillette. “I appreciate this open dialogue with North Dakota’s leaders in energy, including Senator Kevin Cramer, and our mutual efforts to ensure the American energy industry stays resilient and makes it to the other side of this pandemic.”
North Dakota Petroleum Council members were able to ask questions of the Senator and the Secretary to receive clarification on the latest legislation and regulations being considered and implemented affecting the oil and gas industry right now.
