Fargo's New Life Center reports COVID-19 case

 

The New Life Center in Fargo today confirms its first case of COVID-19. Laboratory testing done at Sanford Health confirmed this diagnosis. This individual is in good condition and is hospitalized at Sanford Health in Fargo. This individual has not been present in the shelter since April 21, 2020 and was asymptomatic at that time. 

At a later date, the individual presented themselves to the Sanford Health Emergency Department and tested positive for COVID-19 infection. 

New Life Center will provide the utmost respect to privacy, while also informing potentially affected staff, guests and volunteers and taking swift action measures to mitigate the spread of the virus. 

As such, all staff, guests and volunteers who may have been in contact with this individual are being tested for COVID-19 on site at New Life Center this Friday, May 1, 2020. Those who receive a positive test result will be quarantined per public health guidelines. 

New Life Center will take all necessary actions to further protect the health and safety of our staff, guests and volunteers. These steps have included staff wearing PPE, cloth masks provided to all guests, isolation of those with symptoms, non-essential staff working from home, disposable dishware in food serving lines, to-go meals for the public rather than dine-in and enhanced sanitation efforts.
