Winnipeg-based manufacturing company to cease Fargo operations in September 2020

A Winnipeg-based farm and construction machinery manufacturer will move its Fargo manufacturing and warehouse facility to Willmar, Minn., later this year.

Buhler Industries announced on Monday that its product lines currently manufactured in the Fargo facilities will move to Willmar during the summer months, with Fargo production ceasing on September 30, 2020.

The company says its decision was made “after due consideration and analysis of trends in agriculture and manufacturing,” and will be achieved by optimizing the production in the United States through increased production at the Willmar factory, which manufactures products under the Farm King brand.

The change will reduce excess manufacturing capacity and will enable the company to remain competitive without compromising quality, which is the result of unpredictability in the agriculture commodities market and fluctuations in the exchange rate.

Fargo’s factory currently employs around 35 people, Buhler Industries says.
