The Salvation Army Begins Fall Coat Collection

The Salvation Army will be collecting coats and warm winter gear for families and individuals in our community beginning on Friday, September 7. The Salvation Army encourages donating used winter gear to the nearest Hornbachers. All sizes are accepted and coats do not need to be washed, as they will be professionally washed before being given out to families in October. Most needed items include children sizes 6 -12 coats, snow pants, boots and gloves. Coats will begin to be dropped off at local Hornbachers at 8 a.m. on Friday, September 7.

Last year, almost 1,800 coats were given along with over 2,300 warm winter accessories.  Thanks to the generosity of this community, we were able to meet the needs for many in the Fargo/Moorhead area. Unfortunately, there were still several children and adults who did not receive the needed winter gear.

New or gently used warm winter gear donations can be dropped off at any Hornbacher’s locations.  Monetary donations are also accepted to purchase winter gear.  Donations can either be sent to 304 Roberts St., Fargo, ND 58102 with Coats for Kids in the memo.

Other participating businesses are SCHEELS Corporate office, Cricket in Moorhead, American Crystal Sugar and Integrity Windows and Doors.
