The Polk County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a case in which a driver fled after being pursued by deputies.
According to the department, at 12:40 a.m. Sunday, a Polk County deputy located a vehicle approximately two miles west of Crookston in a field.
While attempting to make contact with the driver, the vehicle took off into the field.
The deputy initiated pursuit. The vehicle continued through the field with its lights off.
The deputy lost track or the vehicle, but was able to follow the tracks it let.
The vehicle was located in a culvert, where it had crashed.
The driver fled, and a K9 unit was brought in, but was not able to locate the driver.
The case is under investigation, and no other information is being released.
