Groundbreaking Set For Block 9 Project

Wednesday is the big day for the Kilbourne Group. It's the groundbreaking celebration for the Block 9 project.

Mike Allmendinger, President of the Kilbourne Group, joined WZFG's Need To Know Morning Show on Tuesday to talk about the project.

The actual work will start next week – but the group is celebrating on Wednesday.

The Block 9 project isn't something new to the Kilbourne group - it's something that has been in the works, for awhile. To see it come to fruition makes Allmendinger excited for the future. It has taken a lot of work with a local bank - US Bank.

He says it’s been a project that’s been in the works for about ten years, and, about four years ago, RDO joined in on the project.

This project is a large one for the F-M metro - so multiple uses were developed. Allemendinger says the group wanted multiple uses available so the building could be opened and utilized right away after it is done being constructed.

The space, located in downtown Fargo, at the corner of Broadway and Second Avenue North, includes corporate headquarters for hundreds of team members of RDO companies, ground floor retail, a boutique hotel, and residential condominiums. Block 9 designs also include a public plaza which project partners envision to become a gathering and celebration space for the region. Early plans for the space include a skating rink, splash pad, and bandshell.

The project is expected to be completed in the Fall of 2020.
