Judd, Mahoney sign Juneteenth proclamation

In honor of the 155th Juneteenth, Fargo Mayor Tim Mahoney and Moorhead Mayor Johnathan Judd signed an official joint proclamation declaring June 19, 2020 as “Juneteenth 2020” in the City of Fargo and City of Moorhead, Minnesota to the organizers of today’s Juneteenth March in Island Park.

Juneteenth is the oldest celebration of the abolishment of slavery in the United States and marks an important chapter in the complex history of our nation. This day also serves as a reminder of the precious promises of freedom, equality and opportunity, as well as the further progress we must make towards achieving total racial equity.

The Mayors’ joint proclamation is a restatement of their commitment to engage in dialogue with all parties interested in creating meaningful change in the Fargo-Moorhead metro community.
