New Statue of Liberty installed near Veterans Memorial Bridge

A new Statue of Liberty near the Veterans Memorial Bridge was installed this morning. The new statue replaces the original statue, which was stolen in July 2019.  The original statue was donated to the City more than 70 years ago by the Boy Scouts of America and the Fargo Lions Club. After numerous searches did not find the missing statue, a replacement was commissioned by the City of Fargo and fully paid for with the donation of private funds.

Mayor Dr. Tim Mahoney said the statue is very important to members of the community. “Lady Liberty is one of those unifying aspects of our community that is really appreciated and its symbolism is so critical.  It is a vivid reminder of the liberties and freedoms enjoyed by the citizens of the United States and to have her back in time for our nation’s birthday on July 4 makes it even more special and appropriate.”

The statue was designed and cast by Atlas Bronze Casting LLC of Kearns, Utah.
