Walz says he’ll visit western Minnesota

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz says he’ll visit western Minnesota sometime in the near future. In an interview with WZFG Radio’s Scott Hennen, the Governor he has already begun traveling the state, trying to figure out the state’s future post-COVID.

“I do it all the time,” Walz says.

He denies the notion that he doesn’t want the state open. In other states who removed restrictions, Walz says their restaurants haven’t seen reservation rates higher than what Minnesota currently has, with their restrictions in place due to COVID-19. He says his current decisions are not government decisions—rather, public health decisions.

“People are going to come back to your businesses when they feel safe,” he says. “The surest thing we can do to get these places open is beat this virus.”
