Search ends, body found in Little Detroit Lake

 

MONDAY UPDATE: The nearly two-day old search for a missing 24-year-old man from Moorhead is over.

Valley News Live's Bailey Hurley says search and rescue teams recovered the body of the man, identified by family as Abdulmajid Osman, just after 1 p.m. Monday afternoon in Little Detroit Lake.

SUNDAY 3:20PM UPDATE: Nearly 24 hours later, the search for a missing 24-year-old man continues on Detroit Lake.

Valley News Live's Kortney Lockey says the lone new information is that a 24-year-old man, from Moorhead, has not been found yet.

Authorities are still searching the lake.

SATURDAY 9:30PM UPDATE: The search continues for a possible drowning victim on the Detroit Lake.

According to Valley News Live's Kortney Lockey, there were three males on the lake on an inflatable device, when the device capsized.

One male, a 24-year-old, did not resurface. The other two men called authorities immediately.

The search has been going on since 4 p.m., and will continue throughout the night. Dive teams have, however, been called off. The divers will return to the lake early Sunday morning.

Officials cannot close the lake, but authorities are asking people to stay away from the area throughout the night into Sunday.

SATURDAY 8:30PM UPDATE: Becker County Sheriff Todd Glander tells WZFG News that the situation still continues to be active at this time  

ORIGINAL STORY: Law enforcement are on the scene of a possible person in the water on Detroit Lake in Detroit Lakes, Minn.

Valley News Live's Kortney Lockey says the Becker County Sheriff's Office got the call at 4 p.m. this afternoon.

A large area of the lake is blocked off, with the sheriff's office asking local boaters to assist in the search. A drone has also been used in the search.
