West Fargo to celebrate Arbor Day next Friday

The City of West Fargo, a Tree City USA community, will hold an Arbor Day celebration at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, 2020, at the POW/MIA Plaza to honor Larry Weil.

Sponsored by the West Fargo Urban Forestry Committee, this annual celebration includes a mayoral proclamation, Tree City USA remarks and a tree planting celebration to honor Larry Weil. Refreshments will be provided at the event by the Urban Forestry Committee.

This year’s tree planting ceremony will honor longtime City of West Fargo resident and employee Larry Weil. Weil was selected by the Urban Forestry Committee to honor his tenure as the former Director of Community Development and previous Director of Planning and Zoning. His tree will be later planted at Service Club Park (401 7th Ave. E., West Fargo). This event is free and open to the public.

Certain state and federal guidelines must be followed during the event. Masks are encouraged and will be placed throughout the event, and hand sanitizer will be available. If you are experiencing any COVID-19 related symptoms or have been recently exposed to a positive case, do not attend these events.
