New 45th Street North and 19th Avenue North Intersection Opens to North – South Travel and Interstate Access Tuesday

Contractors for the City of Fargo’s 19th Avenue North road reconstruction and infrastructure improvement project have moved into the final phases of roadway construction in the west portion and drivers will soon encounter restored routes of travel at a major intersection in the work zone.

Weather permitting, on Tuesday September 25, crews anticipate to open north to south travel through the 45th Street N and 19th Avenue N intersection and access to Interstate 29 (I-29) from 19th Avenue N to traffic as a two-way stop in the afternoon. Northbound and southbound 19th Avenue N traffic will have the right of away. The new 45th Street N intersection has moved to the north with the new road alignment of 19th Avenue N. The existing intersection has been removed and railroad crossing has been updated.

The remaining work needed to open the new intersection to motorists is weather dependent. Continued inclement weather today will push curb work until tomorrow or the following day. Once the concrete is placed and achieves design strength the intersection will be able to be open.

Travel on 19th Avenue N from west of the new 45th Street N intersection to 57th Street North intersection will remain closed to thru traffic. Local traffic is allowed to visit area businesses just west of the intersection by use of new west road alignment. A marked detour route will be found on 19th Avenue N for additional west access.
