Grand Forks Police searching for fleeing suspect after pursuit

Grand Forks Police are searching for a suspect who eluded a traffic stop last evening in the city.

According to Sergeant Andrew Stein, at approximately 8:02 p.m., a Grand Forks Police officer attempted a traffic stop on a tan Ford Escape, with North Dakota license plates 605-AXY, for reckless driving in the 1000 block of North 51st Street. The vehicle fled the area and a pursuit was initiated by the officer.

The pursuit lasted several minutes and ended when the suspect crashed his car in a tree line north of the Budget Inn motel, located at 3400 Gateway Drive. The suspect then fled on foot north of the tree line, and is still at large. A K-9 track was attempted, but was unsuccessful.

The investigation is ongoing.
