Former Grand Forks County Sheriff Dies

The Grand Forks Herald is reporting that former Grand Forks County Sheriff Dan Hill has died.

The Herald says the Grand Forks County Sheriff’s Office reported the 73-year-old died Thursday night at his home. Hill had battled cancer for a lengthy period of time, the Department said in the Herald’s story.

Hill was the longest serving sheriff in the history of Grand Forks County, serving from 1991 to 2011.

Memorial Mass for Hill will be on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Grand Forks, with visitation on Monday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., with a 7 p.m. vigil service at the Norman Funeral Home Chapel, and one hour prior to mass Tuesday in the church.
