City of Jamestown implements mask mandate

The City of Jamestown has approved a mask mandate. The decision came in a special meeting Thursday night.

The mandate will require face coverings in all indoor and outdoor environments, where individuals are exposed to non-household members, and where social distancing of six feet or more cannot take place.

There are exemptions to the mandate, including those with medical conditions or disability, younger than school age children, those driving a motor vehicle alone, those who are consuming food or drink, and more.

There is no penalty for not following the mandate, but businesses can ask patrons to leave if they're not wearing a mask, along with the ability to contact authorities. Jamestown Police Chief Scott Edinger says officers will investigate if a business calls them.

Stutsman County reported 128 cases of COVID-19 today.
