November 2020: Deputy Bruce Renshaw of The Cass County Sheriff’s Office

 

Deputy Bruce Renshaw graduated from Moorhead High School in 1977. After he graduated, Deputy Renshaw joined the United States Navy from 1977 to 1981. During Deputy Renshaw’s time in the Navy, he was assigned to the USS Mullinex as an Operations Specialist. He went back to school for an anti-submarine air controller in Mayport, Florida, and then was reassigned to the USS Mullinex. Deputy Renshaw ended his Navy career in June of 1981 to pursue his BS Degree at NDSU. Bruce graduated NDSU in 1986 and was hired by North Dakota Game and Fish as a seasonal Fisheries Technician. During this period, he joined the Cass County Sheriff’s Office Reserve Unit. In 1993 he was hired as a part-time Correctional Officer, and three months later was hired as a full-time Correctional Officer. Deputy Renshaw worked as a Correctional Officer for 3.5 years on night shifts until he was promoted to the Patrol Division. Deputy Renshaw worked in the Patrol Division for 12.5 years. Ten of the years, he worked in Hunter, ND, where he attended all the city council meetings and the fire and ambulance meetings. Deputy Renshaw transferred from Patrol to the Civil/Warrants Division and has been with this division for approximately 12 years. In 2011 Bruce was assigned to the Airboat Team (Otter Team) when Cass County was able to ascertain two new airboats from the Federal Government for the floods that were constant every spring in our area. In 2011 Deputy Renshaw spent approximately three weeks in the Bismarck area to assist with the flood and about two months in the Minot area assisting with their flood fight in 2011. Deputy Renshaw also had the opportunity to spend approximately eight weeks in Mandan to help with the DAPL Protest.
