Heitkamp: North Dakota at Forefront of All-of-the-above Energy Strategy

U.S. Senator Heidi Heitkamp today highlighted the success of North Dakota’s all of the above energy strategy and her bipartisan work to support growth and innovation in the industry at the 12th annual Great Plains & EmPower ND Energy Conference at Bismarck State College.

“All across North Dakota, our diverse energy industry is creating jobs, strengthening communities, and leading to innovations that make our nation more secure. This is all possible because Congress has been able to come together in a bipartisan way to promote common sense policies that boost domestic energy production – and I’ve been at the forefront of building the bipartisan coalitions necessary to get key policy wins across the finish line,” Heitkamp said. “After working with Republicans and Democrats to lift the ban on domestic oil exports, we’re now seeing record levels of exports and a thriving oil industry that now has the conditions present to innovate and continue to become more efficient with long term certainty on access to global markets. At the same time, we extended renewable energy tax credits that are supporting North Dakota’s wind energy industry, which is benefiting rural communities across the state. And facing a carbon constrained future, I worked in a bipartisan way to expand and extend tax credits that are forging a viable future for North Dakota’s lignite coal industry and coal-fired power, while also continuing to fight for biofuels and North Dakota farmers by making sure the Administration adheres to the lawful mandates that they are required to uphold. North Dakota is the an example for the rest of the country by showing an all-of-the-above energy policy works, and the innovation taking place here will continue to fuel growth in our communities and keep our economy thriving.”
